Writing those two words together almost seems wrong. I get so annoyed with insurance companies. I think they waste more paper denying claims than actually paying them. Every time we go out of our policy area, I get a notice from our insurance carrier wanting to know if we have additional coverage; in other words, is there any other insurance company that may be liable for this expense! We have coverage that allows us to go out of area and network - but the hassle from the insurance carrier is infuriating! What a waste of my time to have to fill these forms out to let them know they are my one and only. Plus, their letter starts out with "so we can better service you" - are they serious? I know why they are sending the letter - they don't want to pay my out of network expenses! Okay - that is my rooster rant for today.
On the note of health - not sure anyone knows this, but you can log onto Nasonex and sign up for a daily email on the allergy count in your area. It is great if you or anyone in your family has allergies - particularly seasonal and environmental ones. www.nasonex.com.

One of my healthcare providers (who also has patients who work for various insurance companies)told me that denying every claim at least once is almost "unwritten protocol", because so many of us will just pay something twice rather than try to find a receipt, or call the provider's office, or fill out more forms! Her suggestion was for me to access as many of these forms (or make copies of letters and receipts)as I needed, and just have my own "form letter" ready to send right back at them! Also, go ahead and submit a claim for any & everything related to your health or that could possibly be related to your health; sometimes (OK, rarely, but still, sometimes) the company will just pay it rather than track you down to ask a bunch of questions! Another friend told me that she deducts any & all health-related services, equipment, supplements and the like on her tax forms, so if you can't get your health insurance to cover something, maybe you can at least deduct the expense.
Until health insurance companies focus money on "health INSURANCE" - that is, STAYING WELL, we'll all be paying too much for too little.
