The money spent heating our house during the cold months makes me crazy. So I'm giving this idea a try and have already seen benefits !! Since our family pretty much lives in the kitchen and family room during the day, I recently hung ceiling to floor curtains (on tension rods) in our entryway and in between my kitchen and dining. It helps contain the heat in the areas we spend the most time in and I've noticed I haven't turned the heat up as high. I'll give an update when our electric bill arrives but I remain confident !!! Any of you have tips to share???

Not sure anyone heard this - but Wegmans (my favorite!!) is slashing prices and could save shoppers $60!! Here is the link for the article.
Since I'm a regular Wegman's patron -- this is my EZ way to save!
I swear by the old standby for keeping heat in and cold out - open the blinds on the side(s) of your home where the sun is shining, and keep the blinds on the "shady" side closed...you have to switch it up as the sun moves, but it works!
In my house, the sun rises in the back and sets in the front, so in the morning, I open the back blinds, and keep the front closed. By about 2 p.m., it's time to switch, and as soon as the sun goes down, close everything to keep warm!
(This helps keep us cool in the summer, too...we just reverse the schedule, and as soon as the sun goes down, we open everything up!)
If you have ceiling fans, you'll also want to change the blade direction with the seasons; there is a switch on the fan that does this.
