The Company You Keep

Once again, you've got to question the company Obama keeps (and I'm not even talking about the Illinois mayor yet!)

Has anyone seen the clip about Jon Favreau (click on "The Company You Keep" above and it will take you to it)?? I find it alarming.

Favreau was a speech writer for Obama during the campaign and he is slated to be an Obama speech writer during Obama's presidency. Apparently Favreau (who is 27 years old!!) posted a picture on his Facebook account of himself (& a friend) molesting a cardboard version of Hillary Clinton. The picture was removed from Facebook after 2 hours.

My issue is -- does Favreau really represent the interests of the American people? Isn't there something scary about his motivations and duplicity that he can write "inspiring" speeches for a candidate for change and in the very same space of time pose in a picture groping Hillary's breasts? Am I looking to deep or is this offensive to women? Americans?

I'm looking for integrity (as I think many Americans are) -- not just pretty words. - Rebecca

Character counts and so does the company one keeps. This is one of the primary reasons I couldn't support Obama in the election. You are right, Rebecca. What this Favreau guy did was horrible (BTW, similar things were done to life-size "cut-outs" of Palin, but not much was made of it... a media double-standard?). But the bottom line now is Obama is the president-elect and he really needs the prayers of the country, especially if he is surrounding himself with people like Favreau. Let's pray that God is Obama's main advisor as he takes office. But let's also watch carefully and not let anything slide under the radar. Let's keep him accountable and walking the straight and narrow, knowing he is under the microscope.

My hopes are that Obama will not add Favreau to his staff after this incident. However, I don't think he's "molesting" Hillary in the picture. It's possible he had been drinking and got carried away. By no means am I making an excuse for him but I can't pass judgement either. I've made a few poor choices/decisions in my younger days too!! Let's hope Favreau learns a lesson and isn't hired by the Obama camp.

I hear what you are saying HippyChick, but 27 or not, he is writing in a voice that is suppossed to be for "all or many of us" and I am appalled by his behavor. Given his position in this campaign, etc., he should have had enough forthought to consider his actions.
