It's All About Me!!!
Newsweek recently had an article on a new book out, "The Narcissism Epidemic". It's premise is that we are turning into a narcissistic society, consumed with what we have, what we need to get, the lengths we go to build self esteem in our children while at the same time giving them gifts of plastic surgery to make them feel complete. Is this an accurate depiction of today's world? Has reality and common sense fallen by the wayside? What are your thoughts?

Yes I think it is, but I think the recent economic changes are forcing many to reevaluate and consider changing their me-me ways.
I've never been one to compete "with the Jones". I think many people have lost sight of appreciating the simple things in life that make us happy.
I totally agree... people and our society in general are out of touch with what is truly important and have become obsessed with things, bigger, better...and how we are paying for it now! As previously posted the current climate in our country is certainly making people think about what they have "become". As the old saying goes people want you to do better, but not better than them!
