What's the best advice you every received?

When an opportunity presents itself, many of us are more than willing to offer advice to a friend or family member. Since this is a BLOG where we share opinions and advice, I thought it would be interesting to find out... "What's the BEST piece of advice you ever received"?

My dad once told me, "words are like stones, once you throw them you can't take them back". It always stuck w/me. Especially when frustrated or angry, it makes me think before I speak.

I was given a small book many years ago that I keep nearby and re-read very often. It is titled "Life's Little Instruction Book" by H. Jackson Brown. It gives pieces of advice that I have always tried to live by. There are 511 entries and I am going to give you the first and the last, just to give you an idea. 1. Compliment three people every day. 511. Call your mother.

I try to take an hour a month or every other month to read it cover to cover. It never fails, every time I read through it, I find a piece of advice I had forgotten about that is very relevant to something happening in my life at that time. For right now, the "advice" that I am trying to focus on is "Pay as much attention to the things that are working positively in your life as you do those that are giving you trouble."

What a great blog topic Judy!
