Eeny Meeny Miny Moe...
What's the role of a god-parent these days? Many of us have them and pick them for our children. Do you pick them for religious reasons or do you feel compelled to choose for family or other reasons? Do you know your god-parents? Do your kids know their's? How do you maintain the god-parent relationship?

My good friend just asked me to be her daughter's godmother. I feel really privileged and thankful to have been asked. I'm not religious at all, but grew up Catholic - same as my friend. To me, it is a way of honoring our friendship and allows me to share in the joys of seeing my friend's daughter grow up. I've already started contributing to her college fund!
